KOI Japanese Sushi Train

KOI Japanese Sushi Train is a modern eatery that offers authentic, healthy Japanese cuisine in a sleek, industrial-inspired setting. The restaurant’s interior design reflects the balance between tradition and modernity, creating a space where the art of sushi-making can be fully appreciated by patrons.

For this project, BHO Interiors selected a palette of darker tones and incorporated hard, industrial materials such as steel and concrete to form the foundation of the restaurant’s aesthetic. These elements are softened with the inclusion of light timber and natural bamboo, introducing a sense of warmth and balance to the overall design. The contrast between these materials highlights the sophisticated simplicity that defines both the interior and the dining experience at KOI.

The open kitchen concept is a key feature of the design, allowing customers to witness the sushi chefs in action as they expertly prepare dishes. This transparency fosters a connection between the chef and the diner, celebrating the craftsmanship and skill behind every plate. The open kitchen also enhances the restaurant’s interactive and lively atmosphere, making it an engaging experience for both sushi enthusiasts and first-timers.

In addition to the material choices, custom-designed elements were incorporated to elevate the dining environment. Suspended feature mesh ceilings were crafted specifically for KOI, creating a unique overhead focal point that adds texture and depth to the space. These mesh ceilings are complemented by bespoke copper pipe lighting fixtures, strategically positioned over the booth seating areas to cast a warm, inviting glow. The copper lighting contrasts with the darker tones of the interior, creating a visually appealing interplay of light and shadow that enhances the restaurant’s ambience.
