The Walk In GP approached BHO Interiors with the exciting task of designing their new healthcare clinic, presenting a unique challenge due to the tenancy’s curved shape. Our goal was to create a functional, welcoming environment that maximised the available space while ensuring comfort for both patients and medical staff.

From the outset, we focused on the clinic’s layout, carefully strategizing the placement of five consultation rooms within the curved confines of the space. Each room was designed with thoughtful consideration of both functionality and comfort, ensuring that there was ample room for medical professionals to move around freely while providing patients with a reassuring atmosphere. We prioritised soundproofing materials to enhance patient confidentiality and promote a sense of privacy during consultations. The resulting layout not only meets the clinic’s operational needs but also fosters a sense of calm and well-being for patients.

To enhance the overall aesthetic of the clinic and make the most of the unique space, we designed a feature wall in the corridor. This design element serves a dual purpose: it adds visual interest to the space and creates an illusion of depth, effectively shortening the perception of what could otherwise feel like a long corridor. By using strategic colour choices, textures, and artistic elements, we were able to draw the eye along the wall, providing a welcoming and engaging experience for patients as they move through the clinic.

The colour palette for the entire clinic was carefully selected to evoke a sense of tranquillity and cleanliness, with soft, neutral tones complemented by vibrant accents that reflect the clinic’s brand. Natural materials were incorporated where possible to enhance the overall warmth of the environment, creating a space that feels less clinical and more inviting.

Additionally, we considered the flow of traffic within the clinic, ensuring that patients could move seamlessly from the waiting area to their consultation rooms without feeling rushed or crowded. The reception area was designed to be welcoming, with comfortable seating and clear signage to guide patients through the clinic.

BHO Interiors also placed great importance on lighting throughout the space. Natural light was maximised where possible, and we utilised a combination of ambient, task, and accent lighting to create a bright, cheerful environment that feels both professional and approachable. The goal was to ensure that the clinic feels lively and welcoming, helping to alleviate any anxiety that patients may experience when visiting a healthcare facility.
